Archibald Cox, Jr. is the former Chairman of Barclays Americas, a former member of the Executive Committee of Barclays Investment Banking and Investment Management businesses and has more than 47 years of financial, investment and operating experience.  Prior to joining Barclays, he was Chairman and served on the board of several privately owned businesses.  He currently serves on the board of Unifi, Inc.

Mr. Cox began his career at Morgan Stanley & Co. in 1964 in corporate finance and moved into sales and capital markets. In 1973, he built the firm’s institutional equity business and assumed responsibility for equity sales and trading. In 1977, he launched Morgan Stanley International in London and served as its Chief Executive Officer until he resigned in 1988. Mr. Cox then served as President and Chief Executive Officer of The First Boston Corporation from 1990 until 1993 when he joined Sextant Group, Inc. as its Chairman. From 1995 to 2005, Mr. Cox was President and CEO of Magnequench International, Inc., a manufacturer of magnetic materials and, from 2005 to 2006, served as the Company’s Chairman. Mr. Cox has also served as Chairman of Neo Material Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer of rare earth, zirconium and magnet materials from 2005 to 2006 and has been a Director of the Company since 2008.

Mr. Cox holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard College, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
