Micell has developed a strong intellectual property portfolio consisting
of issued U.S. and International patents covering a variety of
applications of supercritical fluids. Specifically, Micell’s
intellectual property portfolio surrounding biomedical applications
includes patents or patent applications involving supercritical fluids
either owned by Micell, or exclusively licensed from distinguished
institutions such as Battelle, who manages the Pacific Northwest
National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy laboratory. Micell owns
or controls patents covering the use of supercritical CO2 and
related process methods in the following biomedical applications:
1. Controlling the morphology, distribution and particle size of drugs
in drug-eluting coatings and drug delivery materials
2. Coating of complex medical devices with drug/polymer formulations
3. “Dry”, low temperature polymer sintering that maintains structure and
morphology of therapeutic agents
Micell is continuing to innovate, and complements its patent portfolio
with an important body of proprietary supercritical fluid expertise. |
